Training - Excel
Our main area of expertise is Excel. Three standard levels of training package are available, but can be customised to suit your needs.
Basic
An introduction to Excel. Topics covered include: Excel Terminology; Moving Around and Selecting; Keyboard Shortcuts; Formatting; Formulae and Functions; Common Formulae; Working with Dates; Common Problems; A set of exercises to work through.Intermediate
Working with Excel. Topics covered include: Function Arguments; Custom Formats; Data Validation; Common Conditional Formulae; LOOKUPs; AutoFilter, etc.; Charts.Advanced
Harnessing the full power of Excel. Topics covered include: IF, COUNTIF, SUMIF and related; AND, OR and nested Conditional Formulae; Analysis Toolpak Add-In: EDATE, EOMONTH and other formulae; Further work with VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, MATCH and INDEX; Error Handling; OFFSET and Dynamic Ranges; XIRR and other Financial Formulae; Macros and VBA.
Training - Word
We offer a training service for Word prepared specifically for your needs.
Possible topics include:
- Basic Formatting (Fonts, Borders, Shading);
- Advanced Formatting (Styles);
- Headers and Footers;
- Table of Contents and Bookmarks;
- Bullets and Numbering and customisation;
- Track Changes - reviewing;
- Mail Merge for form letters.
Templates
Working with Word is often easier either when working from a template, or having one available for reference.
Services we offer include:
- Preparation of robust, easily extendable, templates using Styles that can be used for standard letters, or as a basis for constructing larger files;
- linking Word and Excel documents, for example to produce reports from a spreadsheet;
- providing telephone, email, and on-site support (in most cases) for provided templates.
Spreadsheets
We have been working with Excel for more than ten years, and currently work with both the 97-2003 and 2007 versions.
Our main areas of work have been with Actuarial and Investments spreadsheets.
We offer:
- optimisation and error-checking of existing spreadsheets to improve speed and ease of use;
- custom-built spreadsheets that enable low-level users to perform high-level tasks;
- coding of Macros to automate tasks or to add functionality;
- providing telephone, email, and on-site support (in most cases) for provided spreadsheets.
